The Union Ministry of Education released the UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education Plus) 2025-26 report on school education on 7 July 2026. The number of teachers rose to 1,02,73,020, up 8.3% from 2022-23, and Pupil-Teacher Ratios at the foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary levels are 10, 12, 17 and 21, against NEP's recommended 30:1. Dropout fell from 2.3% to 1.8% at the preparatory level and from 8.2% to 7.0% at the secondary level, while secondary retention rose to 51.9%. Secondary GER rose from 68.5% to 71.7%. Schools with computers rose to 69.9% and with internet to 67.4%; 95.0% have electricity and 98.5% have girls' toilets.
