The Ministry of Education released the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2024-25 report on 28 August 2025. For the first time since UDISE+ began, the number of school teachers crossed 1 crore, reaching 1,01,22,420, a 6.7% rise over 2022-23. Pupil-Teacher Ratios at the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary levels improved to 10, 13, 17 and 21, all better than the NEP norm of 30:1. Dropout rates fell from 3.7% to 2.3% at the Preparatory stage, 5.2% to 3.5% at the Middle stage and 10.9% to 8.2% at the Secondary stage, while retention at the Secondary level rose from 45.6% to 47.2%.
