The Ministry of Coal announced on 24 March 2025 that twelve coal mines, eight fully explored and four partially explored, were successfully auctioned in the 11th round of commercial coal mine auctions, launched on 5 December 2024. The mines hold geological reserves of about 5,759.23 million tonnes and a combined peak rated capacity of 15.46 MTPA, excluding partially explored mines. The average revenue share was 36.27%. The mines are expected to generate about ₹3,330 crore in annual revenue, attract about ₹2,319 crore in investment and create 20,902 jobs. Jindal Power won Banai & Bhalumunda in Chhattisgarh at 48% (12 MTPA), and the round also included two blocks in Arunachal Pradesh.
