Tripartite MoU gives IMS-BHU grant-in-aid on the lines of new AIIMS under PMSSY

On 22 November 2024, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda witnessed the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding among the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU), the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education. The MoU enables the Health Ministry to give grant-in-aid to IMS-BHU on the lines of the new AIIMS set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). Pradhan said it would deepen academic and research collaboration and exchanges between the Health Ministry, AIIMS and IMS-BHU; Nadda called it a 'whole of government' approach. An earlier MoU between AIIMS Delhi and IMS-BHU had been signed on 19 June 2018.
