According to TRAI data released on 27 October 2025, India's total telephone subscribers rose from 1,224.54 million at the end of August to 1,228.94 million at the end of September 2025, a monthly growth of 0.36%. Overall tele-density rose to 86.65%; Delhi had the highest tele-density (279.33%) and Bihar the lowest (58.02%). Broadband subscribers rose to 995.63 million and 5G fixed wireless access subscribers to 9.40 million. About 15.13 million subscribers sought Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in September. MNP was first implemented in the Haryana service area on 25 November 2010 and across the rest of the country on 20 January 2011.
