On 21 October 2025, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for two north-eastern areas, tested in August 2025 under its Regional Office, Kolkata. In Agartala city and adjoining areas of Tripura (25–29 August), teams covered 292.5 km of city roads, 10 hotspots and a 1.7 km walk test; Reliance Jio recorded the highest average download speed at 209.52 Mbps. In Silchar city and Hailakandi and Karimganj districts of Assam (18–22 August), they covered 284.1 km; Jio again led at 219.13 Mbps and had a 100% call setup success rate. 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G were tested for voice and data quality.
