The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released the draft Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2026 for public consultation on 13 March 2026. The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR) were first issued on 19 July 2018 to curb unsolicited commercial communication (UCC), amended on 21 December 2018, and amended again on 12 February 2025. TRAI said the new changes draw on stakeholder feedback and recent developments such as AI-based detection of spam by major telecom operators. Comments are due by 12 April 2026 and counter-comments by 27 April 2026.
