Summary
On 9 October 2025 Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel launched the third edition of the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign (TFYC 3.0), a 60-day drive aligned with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Its six strategies include stronger public awareness and compliance with revised guidelines for Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI), under a whole-of-government approach. At the launch a 4th National Tobacco Testing Laboratory was dedicated at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and two guidelines were released — Operational Guidelines for Tobacco Cessation Centres in Ayush institutions and a National Strategic Action Plan for Tobacco Cessation — along with a WHO–Vital Strategies video series for schools. The first campaign was launched on 31 May 2023, World No Tobacco Day. Patel said India leads in regulating the depiction of tobacco in films, TV and online platforms.
