Summary
On 25 February 2025 the National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, released the results of the Time Use Survey 2024, conducted from January to December 2024; the first all-India TUS was held in 2019. Participation in employment and related activities among those aged 15-59 rose to 75% for men and 25% for women, from 70.9% and 21.8% in 2019. About 41% of women aged 15-59 took part in caregiving for household members, against 21.4% of men; women caregivers spent about 140 minutes a day on it, men about 74 minutes. Time women spent on unpaid domestic services fell from about 315 minutes in 2019 to 305 minutes. People aged 6 and above spent 11% of the day on culture, leisure, mass media and sports, up from 9.9% in 2019.
