TDB signs pact for commercial production of steel-slag pothole mix ECOFIX

The Technology Development Board signed an agreement with Visakhapatnam-based Ramuka Global Eco Work Pvt Ltd for commercial production of ECOFIX, a ready-to-use pothole repair mix made from steel slag, on 20 January 2026.

Summary

At the signing, Science & Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh recommended steel slag–based technology for sustainable road construction, especially in difficult and hilly terrain, noting that its use in Himalayan states and UTs is still limited. He said a two-day workshop on steel slag technology would be held the following week in Jammu & Kashmir, followed by other states and UTs, to train road-department engineers. ECOFIX turns steel slag into a durable, instant pothole repair option, and the agreement moves the CSIR road repair technology to market.
