With an investment of ₹27,000 crore, the unit is expected to produce up to 48 million chips per day using advanced packaging such as flip chip and Integrated System in Package (ISIP), and to create 15,000 direct and 11,000-13,000 indirect jobs. The note says the Semicon India programme was launched in 2021 with an outlay of ₹76,000 crore, and that the Cabinet has also approved units by Tata Electronics at Dholera and by CG Power and Kaynes Semicon at Sanand in Gujarat.
