President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 17 July 2025 at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Indore, Surat and Navi Mumbai entered the new Super Swachh League, 23 Super Swachh League cities were felicitated, and Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Lucknow emerged as the top new Swachh Shehars among 43 national awards. Prayagraj won Best Ganga Town, Secunderabad Cantonment was named Best Cantonment Board, and GVMC Visakhapatnam, Jabalpur and Gorakhpur were declared Best SafaiMitra Surakshit Shehar, with a special recognition for waste management at the Mahakumbh. Under the 'One City, One Award' principle, 34 cities were named Promising Swachh Shehars. Union Minister Manohar Lal launched the Swachh City Partnership, under which 78 top-performing cities will each mentor one poor-performing city, and announced a one-year Accelerated Dumpsite Remediation programme from 15 August 2025. Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Ahmedabad on ranking top among the cleanest big cities.
