STRIVE project raised women's share in ITI training to 20%

The Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) project, supported by the World Bank, strengthened India's Industrial Training Institute (ITI) ecosystem during its seven-year implementation, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) said at a review event at Kaushal Bhawan on 13 December 2024. Female participation in vocational training rose from 12% in 2017-18 to 20% in 2022-23, and over 92% of funds allocated to implementing agencies were utilised. Fifteen States reduced trainer vacancies and nine developed career progression policies for trainers based on a model policy of the Directorate General of Training. A compendium of the initiative's practices was launched.
