Finished steel production rose 3.8% to 68.1 Mt and finished steel consumption rose 7.0% to 70.3 Mt. Finished steel exports rose 34.1% to about 2.99 million tonnes, but imports rose 29.5% to about 3.49 million tonnes, so India remained a net importer of finished steel by quantity. India's annual crude steel capacity stands at 222.8 Mt.
