South Africa beat India by 30 runs in the first Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 16 November 2025, inside three days, to lead the two-match series 1-0.

Summary

In the Kolkata Test, South Africa made 159 and 153, while India replied with 189 and were bowled out for 93 chasing a target of 124. Off-spinner Simon Harmer took four wickets in each innings (4-30 and 4-21) and was Player of the Match; captain Temba Bavuma's unbeaten 55 was the only half-century of the match.
