On 4 October 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched 'Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar' ('Your Capital, Your Right'). It is a nationwide campaign to help citizens trace and claim unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds, dividends, mutual fund balances and pensions. The Department of Financial Services (DFS) coordinates it with RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA). It will run in all districts from October to December 2025, with digital demonstrations and helpdesks. Sitharaman named the '3 A's' — Awareness, Accessibility and Action — as its guiding principles. DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju said that as of August 2025, more than ₹75,000 crore of unclaimed deposits had been moved to RBI's Depositor Education and Awareness Fund. Unclaimed insurance proceeds exceed ₹13,800 crore, unclaimed mutual fund balances are about ₹3,000 crore, and unpaid dividends exceed ₹9,000 crore.
