Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, chaired the 6th meeting of the Governing Council (GC) of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited (NIIF) in New Delhi on 9 June 2025. The GC appreciated NIIF's evolution as a sovereign-linked asset manager with investors such as ADIA, Temasek, AustralianSuper, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, CPPIB, AIIB, ADB, NDB and JBIC, and noted that its Assets Under Management have risen to more than ₹30,000 crore. NIIF runs four active funds: the Master Fund, the Private Markets Fund, the India Japan Fund and the Strategic Opportunities Fund; the Master Fund and Private Markets Fund are fully committed, and the upcoming Private Markets Fund II has a target corpus of $1 billion.
