Meghalaya and Assam will be linked by a 166.80 km four-lane greenfield access-controlled high-speed corridor on National Highway 06 from Mawlyngkhung (near Shillong) to Panchgram (near Silchar), approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 30 April 2025. It will be built on Hybrid Annuity Mode at a total capital cost of ₹22,864 crore, with 144.80 km in Meghalaya. The corridor passes through Ri Bhoi, East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya and Cachar district in Assam, and will improve connectivity from Guwahati to Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and the Barak Valley.
