2nd India-Australia Annual Summit held in Rio; Renewable Energy Partnership launched

On 19 November 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, PM Narendra Modi and Australian PM Anthony Albanese held the second India-Australia Annual Summit on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, ahead of the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025. They welcomed the launch of the India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership (REP) covering solar PV, green hydrogen and energy storage, and the extension of the Australia-India Business Exchange (AIBX) for four years from July 2024. They welcomed the new Australian Consulate-General in Bengaluru and the new Indian Consulate-General in Brisbane, the launch of Australia's Working Holiday Maker visa for India in October 2024, and the planned launch of Australian satellites on an Indian launch vehicle in 2026. They intend to renew the Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation in 2025, when the next Annual Summit is due.
