Second Advance Estimates 2025–26: record foodgrain output; wheat at 1,202.10 lakh tonnes

Kharif foodgrain production is estimated at 1,741.44 lakh tonnes (LMT) and Rabi foodgrain at 1,745.13 LMT, about 2.8% and 3.2% higher than last year's 1,694.60 LMT and 1,691.66 LMT. Kharif rice is put at 1,239.28 LMT and Rabi rice at 167.20 LMT; wheat at 1,202.10 LMT, up 22.65 LMT from 1,179.45 LMT. Kharif maize is a record 302.47 LMT and Rabi maize a record 159.03 LMT. Among pulses, tur is estimated at 34.55 LMT, gram at 117.92 LMT and lentil at 17.33 LMT. These estimates cover the Kharif and Rabi seasons; the summer season will be added in the Third Advance Estimates.
