Second Advance Estimates 2024-25: record output of rice, wheat, maize, groundnut and soybean
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare released the Second Advance Estimates of crop production for 2024-25 on 10 March 2025, projecting record output of kharif rice, wheat, maize, groundnut and soybean.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved and released the Second Advance Estimates of production of major kharif and rabi crops for 2024-25 on 10 March 2025. Kharif rice is estimated at a record 1,206.79 lakh tonnes (74.20 LMT more than 2023-24) and wheat at a record 1,154.30 LMT (21.38 LMT more). Kharif maize (248.11 LMT), kharif groundnut (104.26 LMT) and soybean (151.32 LMT) are also records. Kharif foodgrains are put at 1,663.91 LMT and rabi foodgrains, excluding summer, at 1,645.27 LMT. Other estimates include gram at 115.35 LMT, tur at 35.11 LMT, rapeseed and mustard at 128.73 LMT, sugarcane at 4,350.79 LMT and cotton at 294.25 lakh bales of 170 kg. Areas reported by states were cross-checked with remote sensing, and yields are based on crop-cutting experiments.
