SECI and Andhra Pradesh finalise 1200 MWh battery storage project at Nandyal

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) exchanged Government Orders with the Andhra Pradesh government on 15 November 2025 for a 1200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Nandyal and a 50 MW hybrid solar project.

Summary

The SECI–Andhra Pradesh exchange took place at the energy session of the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, organised with CII. The Ministry of Power had designated SECI, a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, as the implementing agency for the 1200 MWh BESS under market-based operations by an order of 23 January 2025. Both the BESS and the hybrid solar project will be developed in CAPEX mode, with SECI bearing the full investment. Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar handed over the orders.
