On 21 November 2024, the fourth edition of the Pan-India Coastal Defence Exercise Sea Vigil 24 concluded. Conducted over 36 hours, it spanned India's 11,098 km coastline and 2.4 million sq km Exclusive Economic Zone, with over 21 agencies across six ministries. More than 550 surface assets and 60 air sorties (about 200 flying hours) were deployed. A seven-day Coastal Defence and Security Readiness Evaluation phase before the tactical phase audited over 950 critical coastal locations. The exercise focused on protecting oil rigs, single point moorings, cable landing stations, non-major ports and nuclear installations, and included outreach to NCC cadets, Bharat Scouts and Guides and coastal students. Sea Vigil has been held since 2018.
