Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the Sanchar Saathi mobile app and the National Broadband Mission (NBM) 2.0 on 17 January 2025, and inaugurated Intra Circle Roaming at DBN-funded 4G mobile sites. The Sanchar Saathi app, on Android and iOS, offers Chakshu for reporting suspected fraud calls and SMS, a check of mobile connections in one's name, blocking of lost or stolen handsets and a handset genuineness check. NBM 2.0 builds on NBM 1.0 (2019–2024) and aims, by 2030, to extend optical fibre connectivity to 2.70 lakh villages, connect 90% of anchor institutions, raise average fixed broadband speed from 63.55 Mbps to at least 100 Mbps, and raise rural internet subscribers from 45 to 60 per 100 people.
