India Post's 100th N-Gen Post Office opens at NEHU, Shillong

On 6 May 2026 Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia virtually inaugurated India Post's 100th N-Gen Post Office at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, six months after the initiative began with the revamp of the IIT Hauz Khas post office in Delhi.

India Post's 100th N-Gen Post Office, a youth-centric postal space for students, faculty and residents, was virtually inaugurated at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, on 6 May 2026 by Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region. N-Gen post offices are being set up in educational institutions with free Wi-Fi, QR-based booking and payment, dedicated student counters and concessional parcel and mail services, and they now cover IITs, IIMs, NITs and Central and State universities across the country.
