The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said on 10 July 2025 that Agra Municipal Corporation, under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U), had transformed the Kuberpur landfill, used as a dumpsite since 2007. By December 2024, about 1.9 million metric tonnes of legacy waste had been removed through bioremediation and biomining, reclaiming about 47 acres at an estimated cost of ₹320 crore. Of this, 10 acres were greened using the Miyawaki technique and five acres converted into a sanitary landfill, while a waste-to-compost plant set up in 2019 at 300 TPD was expanded to 500 TPD.
