The Sanchar Saathi mobile app of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) crossed 50 lakh downloads within about six months of its launch on 17 January 2025, the department said on 9 August 2025. The app builds on the Sanchar Saathi portal launched on 16 May 2023 and supports English, Hindi and 21 regional languages. The initiative has helped recover over 5.35 lakh lost or stolen handsets and disconnect more than 1 crore unauthorised connections, and the portal has had over 16.7 crore visits. Under DoT's Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI), 34 financial institutions have frozen 10.02 lakh bank accounts and wallets and restricted 3.05 lakh accounts.
