The completed six-lane, 701 km Mumbai–Nagpur corridor is expected to cut travel time between the two cities from around 18 hours to about eight hours. The final stretch, through hilly terrain, includes five tunnels including a long tunnel near Igatpuri that cuts the Igatpuri–Kasara journey across the Kasara Ghat to about eight minutes. Fadnavis called the expressway an economic corridor of Maharashtra's prosperity, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi complimented the State Government on its focus on connectivity and Ease of Living.
