DoT's BharatNet-based Samriddh Gram initiative nominated for WSIS Prizes 2026

Samriddh Gram: Integrated Phygital Service Delivery Model Enabled by BharatNet, an initiative of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has been selected as a nominee for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026 under Action Line C6: Enabling Environment, the Ministry of Communications said on 20 April 2026. Built on BharatNet, which the ministry calls the world's largest rural broadband project, the initiative sets up Samriddhi Kendras as one-stop community hubs that combine physical facilities with digital platforms to deliver healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, financial and e-commerce services. Public voting for the prizes is open on the WSIS Stocktaking Platform.
