The Ministry of Rural Development and the Department of Posts signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 7 January 2026 in the presence of Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia. The MoU links the grassroots network of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) with India Post's over 1.5 lakh rural post offices, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Dak Sevaks, to deliver integrated financial and logistics services to Self Help Groups, women entrepreneurs, rural enterprises and MSMEs. The ministries said it gives shape to the Union Budget 2025 vision of repositioning India Post as a driver of the rural economy.
