Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the new Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Lucknow on 8 June 2026. India's Doppler Weather Radar network has grown from 17 radars in 2014 to 50 now, and another 50 are proposed under Mission Mausam, taking the total to nearly 100 over the next two years. Uttar Pradesh had only one Doppler Weather Radar in 2014; three are now operational and six more are being commissioned. Automatic Weather Stations in the State have risen from 59 to 107 and lightning sensors from 0 to 7.
