Indian Railways approved multitracking of the 29-km Danapur–Fatuha section of East Central Railway in Bihar at a cost of ₹976 crore, the Railways Ministry said on 1 August 2026. Third and fourth lines will be laid between Danapur and Patna and between Patna Saheb and Fatuha, with a third line between Rajendra Nagar and Patna Saheb. The project will allow 22 more passenger trains and 18 more freight trains daily and an extra 5.2 million tonnes of freight a year.
