Public Sector Banks post record ₹1.29 lakh crore net profit in April–December 2024

Public Sector Banks reported their highest-ever aggregate net profit of ₹1,29,426 crore in April–December of FY 2024-25, up 31.3% year-on-year, the Finance Ministry said on 6 February 2025.

The Ministry of Finance said on 6 February 2025 that Public Sector Banks (PSBs) recorded their highest-ever aggregate net profit of ₹1,29,426 crore in the first nine months (April–December) of FY 2024-25, a growth of 31.3% year-on-year, with operating profit of ₹2,20,243 crore. As on 31 December 2024, the net NPA ratio stood at 0.59%, aggregate business grew 11% to ₹242.27 lakh crore, and credit grew 12.4%, led by retail credit at 16.6%. The aggregate Capital to Risk Weighted Assets Ratio was 14.83%, well above the minimum requirement of 11.5%.
