President Droupadi Murmu visited Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the arid island of Khadir in Kachchh district, Gujarat, on 1 March 2025. ASI Director General Y. S. Rawat guided her through the site, and she praised the Archaeological Survey of India's conservation work and the Harappans' technology. Dholavira shows advanced town planning, a sophisticated water conservation system and well-structured reservoirs. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2021. The ASI excavated it between 1990 and 2005 under Dr Ravindra Singh Bisht, finding habitation in seven cultural phases from 3000 to 1500 BCE.
