On 14 October 2024, in Algiers, President Droupadi Murmu held a meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria at El Mouradia Palace and led delegation-level talks, with a special focus on trade and investment. She had reached Algiers on 13 October 2024 on the first leg of State Visits to Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi; President Tebboune received her at the airport as a special gesture. This is the first visit by an Indian President to Algeria. Earlier on 14 October she laid a wreath at the Maqam Echahid Memorial and visited the National Museum of the Moudjahid. Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar and MPs Mukeshkumar Dalal and Atul Garg accompanied her.
