Dharmendra Pradhan releases draft UGC Regulations, 2025 on teacher appointments and standards

Summary

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the draft UGC (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment & Promotion of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) Regulations, 2025, in New Delhi on 6 January 2025. Dharmendra Pradhan said the draft regulations, framed in line with NEP 2020, have been placed in the public domain for feedback and suggestions before UGC publishes them in final form. The minister also inaugurated 'Pushpagiri', the new auditorium of the University Grants Commission, in the presence of UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar.
