Seva Teerth houses the Prime Minister's Office, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat, which were earlier at different locations. Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2 house ministries including Finance, Defence, Health, Education, Law & Justice and Agriculture. The move ends nearly eight decades of the PMO working from the colonial-era South Block, and came 95 years after New Delhi was formally inaugurated as the capital in 1931. In his address the PM said South Block and North Block were built as symbols of the British Empire, while Seva Teerth was built to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
