PM Modi receives FAO's Agricola Medal 2026 at FAO Headquarters in Rome
On 20 May 2026 the Food and Agriculture Organization conferred its Agricola Medal for 2026 on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at its Rome headquarters, for leadership on food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations conferred its Agricola Medal for 2026 on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 20 May 2026 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome. FAO Director General Dr Qu Dongyu presented the medal in recognition of the Prime Minister's leadership on food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development in India and globally. The Prime Minister dedicated the honour to Indian farmers and the agricultural scientific community, and noted that India had developed around 3,000 climate-resilient crop varieties in the last 10 years. India is a founding member of FAO, and the visit was the first by an Indian Head of Government to FAO Headquarters in 30 years.
