Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th instalment of PM-KISAN from Bhagalpur, Bihar, on 24 February 2025, transferring over ₹22,000 crore to more than 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore women farmers.

Summary

On 24 February 2025 Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) from Bhagalpur, Bihar. Over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore women farmers, received more than ₹22,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer; about 75 lakh Bihar farmer families received around ₹1,600 crore. The 18th instalment had been released from Washim, Maharashtra, on 5 October 2024 to over 9.4 crore farmers. PM-KISAN, a central sector scheme launched in February 2019, gives land-holding farmers ₹6,000 a year in three equal instalments into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts; over ₹3.46 lakh crore was disbursed in the first 18 instalments. At Bhagalpur the PM also said the 10,000th Farmer Producer Organisation had been formed in Bihar and spoke of the planned Makhana Board.
