PM inaugurates Safran's LEAP engine MRO facility (SAESI) in Hyderabad
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park–SEZ, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, via video conferencing on 26 November 2025.
Summary
SAESI is Safran's maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility for LEAP engines, which power Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It is the first time a global engine OEM has set up an MRO operation in India. Spread over 45,000 sq m with an initial investment of about ₹1,300 crore, it is designed to service up to 300 LEAP engines a year and employ over 1,000 technicians and engineers at full capacity by 2035. The PM said India's domestic aviation market is now the third largest in the world.
