Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 13 km Sahibabad–New Ashok Nagar stretch of the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, worth about ₹4,600 crore, on 5 January 2025, giving Delhi its first Namo Bharat connectivity, and rode the train between the two stations. Narendra Modi also inaugurated the 2.8 km Janakpuri–Krishna Park stretch, the first stretch of Delhi Metro Phase-IV to open, and laid the foundation stone of the 26.5 km Rithala–Kundli section linking Rithala in Delhi to Nathupur (Kundli) in Haryana, as part of projects worth over ₹12,200 crore. The PM said India's metro network has reached 1,000 km, up from 248 km in five cities before 2014, making it the third-largest in the world.
