On 11 October 2025, at the Krishi programme at IARI, New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 16 fisheries projects worth over ₹693 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF): foundation stones for 7 new projects worth ₹572 crore and inauguration of 9 projects worth ₹121 crore. They include a ₹170 crore trout fisheries project in Uttarakhand under FIDF, a ₹119.94 crore Smart & Integrated Fishing Harbour at Karaikal, Puducherry, a ₹100 crore Integrated Aqua Park at Hirakud, Sambalpur, Odisha, under PMMSY, and a ₹70 crore Nutrition Hub of Sustainable Aquaculture at Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Fish farmers from the 100 Aspirational Agricultural Districts took part.
