PM Modi launches PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (₹24,000 crore) for 100 districts at IARI, New Delhi

On 11 October 2025, at a special Krishi programme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two agriculture schemes with a combined outlay of ₹35,440 crore: the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (₹24,000 crore) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses (₹11,440 crore). He said the day marked the birth anniversaries of Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh. The PM Dhan-Dhaanya scheme is inspired by the Aspirational Districts Programme and covers 100 districts chosen on three parameters: agricultural output per unit of land, how many times crops are grown on the same land in a year, and the availability of institutional loans or investment for farmers. It brings together 36 government schemes, and aims to raise productivity, encourage crop diversification, add post-harvest storage at panchayat and block level, and improve irrigation and long-term credit. The PM also inaugurated projects worth over ₹5,450 crore and laid foundation stones for projects worth about ₹815 crore in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and food processing.
