On 2 August 2026, in New Delhi, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said 47,328 villages across the country, including 435 in Telangana, have been selected under the Adarsh Gram Component of the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY), according to a written reply by Minister of State Ramdas Athawale in the Rajya Sabha. The component aims at integrated development of Scheduled Caste-majority villages by saturating 50 monitorable socio-economic indicators across 10 sectors. Nationally, 3,28,131 development works have been identified, of which 46,642 have been completed, benefiting 47,59,399 people.
