The Padma Awards 2027, to be announced on Republic Day 2027, opened for nominations on 15 March 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs said. Nominations, including self-nominations, will be accepted only online on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (awards.gov.in) until 31 July 2026. The Padma Awards — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri — were instituted in 1954 and are among the country's highest civilian honours, given for 'work of distinction' in all fields. Government servants, including those working with PSUs, are not eligible, except doctors and scientists. The government asked citizens to help make them 'People's Padma' by identifying deserving women, people from weaker sections, SCs and STs and divyang persons.
