Operation Sagar Bandhu provides search and rescue and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) to Sri Lanka; INS Vikrant, INS Udaygiri and INS Sukanya had earlier provided relief and helicopter-borne search and rescue. The three LCUs reached Colombo on 7 December, and INS Gharial was due at Trincomalee on 8 December.
