Operation Drishti: AFMS performs 220 sight-restoring surgeries at Tangdhar along the LoC

Armed Forces Medical Services surgeons carried out 220 sight-restoring surgeries at the 10th Mega Eye Surgical Camp under Operation Drishti at Tangdhar, Kupwara (J&K), on 24 and 25 September 2026.

Summary

The surgeries were done in an underground operation theatre in the shelling-prone zone along the Line of Control; most were cataract operations, with some retinal and glaucoma procedures. Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth and DG AFMS Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja visited the camp, which was led by Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra of Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt.
