Phase I of the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme began on 1 January 2025, providing access to over 13,000 international scholarly journals from 30 major publishers to more than 6,300 government higher education and central R&D institutions. One Nation One Subscription, approved by the Union Cabinet on 25 November 2024, is expected to benefit nearly 1.8 crore students, faculty and researchers, with subscriptions paid centrally through INFLIBNET, an autonomous inter-university centre of the UGC. A total of ₹6,000 crore has been allocated for 2025, 2026 and 2027, along with ₹150 crore per year to support beneficiary authors publishing in selected open access journals.
