Odisha's Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj virtually inaugurated 30 Khelo India Centres, one in each of the state's 30 districts, at a function at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, on 20 April 2025. The centres were set up jointly by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the state's sports department to nurture grassroots talent in disciplines such as football, volleyball, hockey, athletics, kho-kho and kabaddi. Each centre will get an annual grant of ₹5 lakh, and former state and national-level athletes will be engaged as coaches.
