Notaries (Amendment) Rules, 2025 raise notary limits in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Nagaland

The maximum number of notaries that state governments may appoint rises from 2,900 to 6,000 in Gujarat, 2,500 to 3,500 in Tamil Nadu, 2,000 to 3,000 in Rajasthan and 200 to 400 in Nagaland. The change follows requests from these states, citing population growth, more districts and tehsils, and demand for notary services.
